Leukaemia UK launches search for five new talented Trustees

Today, we’re excited to be launching our search for a talented and diverse set of Trustees to join our Board, and help guide the charity as we embark on an ambitious new strategy to accelerate progress in leukaemia research to stop leukaemia devastating lives.

We need people with a range of different experiences and skills, and we would love to hear from you!

We’re at a pivotal moment in our charity’s development, poised for a step change in our impact and influence. Over the last two years we’ve completed a major programme of work to build one strong and thriving charity from the roots of two original organisations. We’ve appointed a new Chief Executive and we’ve reviewed the priorities, skills and diversity mix of our Trustee team.

This is therefore a particularly exciting time to join the organisation for five talented and engaged trustees who will be able to contribute to the charity through a diverse range of professional and lived experiences. You will have at least one of the following backgrounds: professional financial expertise, knowledge of income generation and commercial development, medical research or clinical practice (especially within the field of leukaemia and blood cancer), marketing communications, and HR & OD expertise.

Wherever you are now, you will have a collaborative approach and sound judgement, and a deep commitment to the mission and purpose of Leukaemia UK. With excellent interpersonal and ambassadorial abilities, you will be a confident and credible relationship-builder, able to influence and build support for the organisation.

We welcome applications from people who have lived experience of blood cancers, even if they come from different professional backgrounds.

We’re also deeply committed to broadening the range of backgrounds on the Board in all dimensions and welcome candidates from all walks of life who have an interest in our work and the expertise to help shape our success. If you have the skills and experiences we are looking for, we very much look forward to hearing from you.

At the same time, we also have a fantastic opportunity for an individual interested in leading our Board, as we look to elect a new Chair Elect.

Our current Chair, Chris Corbin OBE, has led Leukaemia UK’s Board of Trustees since 2019 when the organisation merged with Leuka, of which he had been Chair since 2014 and Trustee since 2009. Chris will be remaining on the Board and will continue to spearhead our flagship fundraising event, Who’s Cooking Dinner?, which has run since 1999 and this year will be taking place in September to coincide with Blood Cancer Awareness Month.

Chris has been instrumental in the development and growth of Leukaemia UK, enabling the charity to go from strength to strength under his leadership. Chris is now looking to pass the position of Chair on to an exceptional candidate who can lead the charity as we embark on an exciting new strategy to accelerate progress for leukaemia research through growing our research funding and impact.
