Leukaemia UK relies completely on voluntary donations. We understand that these unprecedented times are challenging for us all. However, our vital work to support those affected by leukaemia and other blood cancers continues.

If you would like to help us make a difference by supporting our cause, please take a look at these virtual event ideas and ways in which you can get involved from the comfort of your home and its vicinity.

Take part in The 2.6 Challenge

Following the postponement of the London Marathon, the organisers of the biggest mass participation sports events across the country have come together to create the 2.6 challenge to help support UK's charities, including Leukaemia UK.

From Sunday 26 April 2020, we are asking our supporters to dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 and fundraise or donate. The challenge will last for a week. The 2.6 Challenge is open to anyone of any age – the only requirement is that the activity must follow the Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing and remember to stay local.

Starting on the original date of the London Marathon, please join the nation in taking part in activities with a 2 and a 6, for example you may chose to walk, jog or cycle 2.6 miles or km, do 26 squat jumps, go up and down your garden 26 times or even bake 26 cupcakes. Whatever it may be, we would love for you to support Leukaemia UK.

Virtual challenges: walk, jog or run to raise funds for our cause

Ever wanted to climb Everest? Or take part in the Inca Trail? You can now complete the equivalent distance of these challenges either out and about on your daily exercise, climbing the stairs indoors, or a combination of the two!

The Team Gotham challenge: Not all Superheros wear capes.... This is a 5k challenge, so perfect for families who want to complete it together, or

The Big Charity Run:
The ultimate challenge; challenges pick a 30, 60, 90 or 120 mile distance to complete over a single month.  They can run, walk or cycle so perfect for setting an ambitious target and staying motivated! Suitable for anyone looking to stay fit during lockdown.

Fundraising through Facebook

If you are on Facebook, you may create a Facebook Fundraiser to support our cause - all monies raised will go directly to Leukaemia UK. You may wish to do a 'socially distant' event at home and create a fundraiser for our cause and encourage friends and family to donate.

Host a ‘Virtual Night out for Leukaemia UK’, use your Facebook to host or join a party with your friends. Create an event, share recipes, takeaway, drinks ideas, pictures and videos and make a small donation to our cause. You can select us as a charity to support within the group so everyone within the event group can donate to our cause should they wish - this is really simple to set up and you will be helping fund vital research into leukaemia and other blood cancers.

Yoga/Pilates at home

If you enjoy yoga or are a yoga teacher yourself, why not join or hold an online (YouTube or Instagram), donation-based class where people can donate to our cause. To make this both enjoyable for those taking part and successful for us, set a reasonable 'ticket' price or ask for a suggested donation.

Bake Off!

If you had already planned to organise a bake sale for us, please instead of cancelling just postpone until later on in the year. As soon as we are back in the office, we can send you materials to help you with your efforts.

Why not team up with friends and family and host a 'Virtual bake off' - if you can locate baking ingredients in the shops (we understand that shops are a little sparse at the moment!), but anything you can get your hands on why not have a little, friendly competition and see who really is the best cook in your group.

Online Quiz

If you are a regular quiz participant or just fancy testing your general knowledge then why not organise a virtual online quiz. Your can design a quiz, set a date and time, send invites electronically to family and friends to 'join you' via a video link (i.e. WattsApp or Messenger). You can set up a fundraising page on our website and ask participants to make a donation to our cause to participate.

Guess the number in a jar

A simple yet fun initiative is to fill a jar with pasta/dried beans/sweets and get friends and family to make a donation by setting up a fundraising page on our website in exchange for guessing the amount of items in the jar. We will supply a coveted winner's certificate via email!

Send a Leukaemia UK e-card

Want to send a loved one a greeting card? Order them an e-card right now from your home and support our life-saving work.

Our e-cards are simple to send. Just pick a design, add your message, donate and send.
