Your donation can make Christmas shine brighter for a child facing leukaemia
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) is the most common form of childhood cancer, most often affecting children between the ages of 2 and 5. It’s a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow. It occurs when the body produces too many immature white blood cells, known as lymphoblasts, which crowd out normal cells and stop the blood from functioning properly.
Better, kinder treatments for children can be possible with your help.
I’m so pleased Leukaemia UK is there. Research is making children’s lives so much better. I want the day to come when they don’t even remember having their treatment.

Dr Noelia Che is investigating childhood acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), focusing on how the gene MYB influences glucose metabolism in cancer cells.
Working with samples from Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and collaborators, her research has revealed that MYB not only regulates how AML cells use glucose but may also drive treatment resistance.
The team is now exploring targeted strategies to disrupt these metabolic pathways and improve the effectiveness of existing therapies.
