Thank you to everyone who helped raise £4,656 at the Christmas Challenge 2017!

Leukaemia UK was once again been selected to participate in the Big Give Christmas Challenge.

Between midday on 28th November to midday on 5th December donations made to Leukaemia UK via the Big Give Christmas Challenge portal were doubled.

The challenge is a unique way to to make your donations have double the impact.

Our aim this time was to raise £2,200 from individual donors (which was doubled to £4,400). This was twice the amount you helped us raise last year. We achieved this only thanks to your kind support.

Your donations will fund our Trainee Haematologists programme

We want to offer small pots of flexible research funding to haematologists (blood cancer specialist clinicians) still in training, to explore interesting avenues, and find innovative approaches to blood cancer treatments and patient care.

Leukaemia UK's programme of grant funding is aimed at haematologists completing their final training. We believe such funding is increasingly hard to find, and in designing this programme we aim to support these haematologists of the future, and help them to identify potentially new and exciting areas of blood cancer research, which may otherwise be overlooked.

Our aim is that by offering this blood cancer research funding, it will also encourage talented clinicians to stay in the discipline of blood cancer research in this country. We want to bring about a new attitude to funding research projects - to encourage new ideas, new ways of doing things, which might then pave the way for significant investment and long term change in blood cancer care and treatments. We want to be open to new ideas, new approaches, new thinking.

Thank you for all your generosity and support!
