PHIL - my lovely husband and Rhys and Samuel’s loving dad lost his fight against leukaemia on the 9th December 2019 after a 9 month battle. Phil was diagnosed with AML a form of acutely aggressive leukaemia in March 2019. Phil was very healthy and he only presented to the GP with flu like symptoms. Phil endured chemotherapy treatment and battled so hard hoping to achieve “remission”, which would of enabled him to have a life-saving stem cell transplant. Devastatingly this was not to be.
Rhys and I and a group of Phil’s great friends and family #Run4Phil are going to run/jog/walk/crawl this year’s Bognor 10k on May 17th - which happens to be Rhys’s 17th birthday to raise some funds for Leukaemia UK.
Someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer every 14 minutes. That’s around 40,000 people every year.
Leukaemia UK support those affected by leukaemia and other blood cancers. They work to find innovative and effective research and better treatments.
