My dad was diagnosed with cmml-2 in late October 2018. He was 65 years old and had never had any previous experiences with cancer or any type of serious disease. He was a cyclist all his life and was very fit and loved to exercise. I had just turnt 16 and I felt that my relationship with my dad was so strong and nothing could come between us. After getting diagnosed with cmml-2 he was in and out of hospital and never seemed out of character, just always tired and sleeping. My mum and I constantly saw him and we noticed that he was ill but seemed to be coping well the treatment and he was as happy as ever. He went up to Leicester for a meeting with a consultant to discuss the the process of the treatment. They said he was fit enough to go through with the stem cell transplant and they were happy with everything as it all looked promising. We were all discussing how happy we were as it was a few days before Christmas and it felt like an early Christmas present. Sadly 2 days after the good news, on the early hours of the 23rd of December Malcolm was rushed into hospital as he was unable to move and was vomiting aggressively. At around 4am the nurses had done all they could and Malcolm sadly passed away. We all loved him so much and he didn’t have a bad bone in his body. I’m setting this page up to try and help people so that they don’t have to go through the same process as I did. Love you Dad xx
