In memory of

Katie Wilkins

Katie Wilkins (Jonathan Wilkins’ daughter) passed away on 31st July 2020 at the age of 14 years with a very rare type of Leukaemia, this was very sudden, with little or no warning of her condition.

She was diagnosed at Alder Hey Children’s hospital in Liverpool on the Monday evening, and treatment started immediately, unfortunately she took a turn for the worse on Wednesday morning where she started having headaches, which is a bad sign with this type of Leukaemia. She was then rushed into theatre where she had a blood clot on the brain. They operated on her to reduce the swelling and remove the clot, but the damage was done and throughout Wednesday night and Thursday day the signs were positive. However sometime thereafter Katie must have had a second bleed and became unresponsive.

Katie was full of life, like most teenagers of that age, always in the thick of it with her friends, on social media and loved her one true passion, horse riding. She had many discussions about what she wanted to do later in life, this ranged from being a horse riding instructor, to a paramedic to a nurse, but the common theme was her passion to help people. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends, but not forgotten, and by carrying out this fund raiser we raise awareness of this condition for other parents and loved ones.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of supporters, we have now raised an amazing £8,778.
