Mum's diagnosis with MDS was sudden and devastating. Although the indications were that as Mum was a healthy 68 year old she could have a few more years with treatment, however, it was always going to be terminal illness. Unfortunately though the first round of treatment didn't work which shortened her life expectancy dramatically. Mum never let this beat her and signed up for experimental treatments to help those that follow with this disease. Nicknamed Xena (Warrior Princess) by her care nurses for her fighting spirit, Mum passed peacefully at home, a little over 18 months from diagnosis.

Athletics played a huge part in both our lives and I have lots of memories associated with it. Therefore, running seemed the natural way to raise money for research into this little known and rare disease, so please donate generously ! Andrew Clowes
