My name is Catherine and in 1989, my lovely mum Pauline Coulton died from Leukaemia. She was just 27 when she died, after battling against the disease for over two years. Naturally we were all devastated to lose her, particularly myself and my brother who were just 4 and 7 at the time. Although many years have passed, her memory still lives on, and this year marks what would have been her special 60th birthday. Although we aren't able to celebrate her birthday in the traditional way, I would like to raise money for Leukaemia UK, in her memory. And so, over the next 6 weeks I will be running 60km. I will be doing 6 x 10km runs, one each weekend starting Saturday 6th Feb, until her birthday on Saturday 20th March.

Unless you have been directly affected by Leukaemia, you may not even have heard of it! It is a type of blood cancer and someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer every 16 minutes. I hope to raise some money not only to celebrate my mum's life, but also to make a small difference in the fight against Leukaemia. Treatment options were quite limited when my mum was suffering Leukaemia in the 1980's, but research advancements are taking place all the time, and it is vital even during these challenging times that this research continues.

I have started off the donations at £60, I know that many people are struggling financially at the moment, due to the knock-on effect of COVID, so please don't feel under any pressure! But I would really appreciate it if you could support any way possible, whether that be donating, helping to spread the word about my fund-raising effort or following my journey on social media! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and thank in advance for all your support!
