Trustee

All Trustee appointments are offered on a voluntary basis.

How we are run

Trustees contribute their services to the Board on a voluntary basis and are responsible for the governance of the charity, ensuring it meets its statutory responsibilities, as well as determining

overall strategy, policies, and direction, with the expert guidance of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

The full Board usually meets four times a year, with all Trustees having a term length of three years and being eligible to serve three consecutive terms.  The Board is led by Chair Ian McCafferty CBE.

In addition to the main Board there are Board Sub-Committees for Finance, People & Culture, Remuneration, and Development (fundraising and marcomms), as well as a Scientific and Medical Advisory Group.

The Trustees delegate day-to-day management of the charity to the Chief Executive, Fiona Hazell, who works with an SLT made up of the Chief Executive and Directors of Income, Communications, Research & Advocacy, and Finance & Resources.  Overall, we currently have 30 staff, as well as a hugely dedicated volunteer community which includes our Patient Experience Advisory Panel and our Community Champions.
